One of the most underrated songs on this website. Keep it up!

A quick question: That main bass synth pumps really well! Did you sidechain it to the kick or did you preform some sort of compression wizardry? Either way, it sounded really really cool!

dj-Jo responds:

ah thanks :3

and for the bass synth, I side chained it to the kick and snare manually via Automation and using Side Chain Compression (I think that's what the method is called) using a peak controller.

:D

Nice work! Drums sound solid. Stereo image is great. I'd have given you 5/5 if there was a bit more musical/dynamic variation. But that's simply a matter of taste :)

Fanopeion responds:

Thank you kindly for being honest.

This is epic. Why isn't it at the top?! xD

That kick is so clean and snappy!

TerraNation responds:

it just a cover anyway hehe :)

I agree with TSM. You did a great job. Usually I vote poorly on remixes, due to the sheer unoriginality. This was a great remix and should serve as a model for other on NGs who whish to try their hadna t remixes. Great job, mate.

TerraNation responds:

Hey mate thanks for the comment :)

Okay, I really enjoyed this track. Great atmosphere and original. Seeing people with boring, repetitive songs, or total ripoffs, that are receiving high praise from the NGs community are all too common. I was glad to see something fresh and original up there for once.

I'd just like to build off of what Pulsar said in his, as always, comprehensive review.

The intro was fine, to me.

The kick. I had the same problem you had for a while. Now, for all my trance, I have 3 seperate kick samples. 'High Kick' 'Mid Kick' and 'Low Kick'. if you mix them together, you get a nice full, in-your-face kick. Some people hate that I do this, however, so Its really up to you. My two latest songs use this technique, so check those out to see what kind of sound it produces.

I didn't notice the emptiness of the pads, I feel like it would sound a bit less lonesome if you beefed it up. I thought it went well with the tone of the piece.

Piano was fine. I liked how it sounded syncopated with the hats. I was in a Drumline for a while, so I really like that stuff. To the casual listener, I think it would definitely sound a bit off. Its all about who you're marketing this to, you know?

Anyway, good work. I'll be looking out for more of your stuff!

Destroyerrrr responds:

Keeeeegs. Thank you a lot, that's some really nice feedback you have, definitely spurs me to work harder!

Great work!

More pads! That little dinky one didn't do your amazing melodies justice!

Also, I would add some more reverb on the piano to give it more atmosphere. Personal preference, though :p

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! It's meant to be a little lighter than usual so maybe I will add some more reverb.

Love what you're doing here. Keep it up.

MashedByMachines responds:

Thanx :)

Great work!

I'm not sure what you intended this song for, but I'll assume you made it for mainly listening as opposed to Video Game music or for a movie or something for the sake of the review.

I would suggest trying to cut out some of the repetitiveness of the piece to retain audience attention. Now this is purely preference. If a riff is incredibly amazing, I like hearing it again. If not, well, there's no use repeating it more than necessary.

Of course, this is all just a matter of opinion. Keep at it! :)

Destroyerrrr responds:

I Intended for the song to have sex with your ears. Glad you like it.

I don't understand what some of these people are complaining about in reference to the time signature. It was clearly in 4/4 the entire time. Its kind of hard to get that one wrong...

Anyway, I liked the song! I think it could use some more dynamics to make it more exciting, but sometimes dynamic changes are distracting.

I have heard a lot of good trance that was monotonous. Its all preference.

Good work!

Pulsar013 responds:

Thanx Keegs - its is 4/4, I think the ppl are a bit uneasy about the repetitiveness . Yes this could do with a lot of stuff - more dynamics more drops and even more layers - but I submitted this one as a preview - however Im still not around to it. Another way to look at the track - is to think close to pure trance = repetitiveness on steroids. Ex could be PDV , u know "For and Angle." But yea - I agree a lit more spice to my skills in general would help - hopefully later on that will happen with more and more reviews. Thanx again.

Beautiful! amazing flow and atmosphere! What samples do you use?

lordavocado responds:

Hey, thanks for your comment! This was done entirely with the samples built into Sibelius 6 -- it's not quite as good as a sequencer in terms of creating audio files, but still gets the job done :P
